The conferences "2021 China-Korea-USA International Conference on Matrix Theory with Applications (IRCTMT-AORC Joint Meeting)" and “The 6th International Conference on Matrix Inequalities and Matrix Equations (MIME2021)” took place on November 26-27 online. More than two hundred faculty members and graduate students from China, South Korea, the United States, Canada, Singapore, Brazil, Serbia, Iran and Hong Kong attended these two conferences. The conferences were sponsored by the International Research Center for Tensor and Matrix Theory of Shanghai University, Hainan Normal University, Guilin University of Electronic Science and technology, Hainan mathematics society, and Chinese Higher Education Association’s Specialized Committee for Education Mathematics.

Under the auspices of Dr. Xiaohui Fu, the opening ceremony opened at 8:10am. Professor Qing-Wen Wang, the Director of IRCTMT and the "Shanghai Leading Talents", began the conference with a warm welcome speech. Afterwards, Professor Gi-Sang Cheon, the Director of AORC, Professor Tin-Yau Tam, the department chair of the Department of mathematics and statistics, University of Nevada Reno, USA, Professor Xian-Feng Chen, the vice president of Hainan Normal University, Professor Chun Li, the Party secretary, School of mathematics and statistics, Hainan Normal University separately addressed impassioned remark.

This conference involved 54 experts and scholars making wonderful talks. It included Professor Delin Chu from National University of Singapore, Singapore; Professor Jinyun Yuan from Universidade Federal do Parana, Brazil; Professor Yiu-Tung Poon from Iowa State University, USA; Professor Lei Cao from Southeast University of Nova, USA; Professor Tin-Yau Tam from University of Nevada Reno, USA; Professor Zhongshan Li from Georgia State University, USA; Professor Yang Zhang from University of Manitoba, Canada; Professor Gi-Sang Cheon from Sungkyunkuan University, Korea; Professor M.S. Moslehian, the President of the Iranian mathematics society; Professor Dragana from University of Nice, Serbia, and Professor Ren-Cang Li from Hong Kong Baptist University. All these talks fully reflected the important research progresses of matrix theory in the frontier and cross-disciplinary fields. During the whole conference, participants spoke enthusiastically, exchanged ideas and shared their experiences, which brought a successful conclusion at 12:00 am on 27th, November.

This event strengthened the understanding of the current frontier study status and latest research results of matrix theory application in the field of signal processing, computational mathematics, tensor force, system control, image processing, graph theory, quantum information theory, combinatorial mathematics etc., playing a positive role in further promoting communication and collaboration between Shanghai University and its counterparts at home and abroad.

Memorandum of Understanding was signed by IRCTMT and AORC on December, 2016, which agreed that the International Conference Series on Matrix Theory with Applications will be co-sponsored by two centers- IRCTMT and AORC. Discussed by the bilateral center organizing committee, "2022 China-Korea International Conference on Matrix Theory with Applications" will be held in Korea. "The 7th International Conference on Matrix Inequalities and Matrix Equations" will be held in Nanchang University in 2022.
